Dr. Robert C. Bauman has been providing patients with quality eye health and vision care for almost 30 years. Licensed by the Board of Examiners in Optometry for the States of Vermont, Connecticut, and California, he is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Optometric Associations of both Vermont & Connecticut.
Dr. Bauman attended the State University of New York School of Optometry and earned his Doctor of Optometry in 1977. After completing his clinical training at the University Optometric Center in New York City, he moved to Connecticut and established a private practice. Starting with a single office, Dr. Bauman established a reputation for quality care. He expanded his practice to include four separate offices serving over 1,500 patients per month.
With a staff of 58 optometrists, opticians, technicians, administrative and office personnel, Dr. Bauman was recognized as one of the country’s most successful independent eye care practitioners. He gained national recognition for his professional and practice management skills when his practice was featured in 20/20 Magazine.
In 2002, Dr. Bauman’s practice was acquired by a national eye health service corporation where he served as Vice President of patient services, until he left to fulfill a life-long dream of living in Vermont.
Dr. Bauman has extensive experience in contact lenses and has been awarded numerous United States Patents in the field of contact lens technology. He has successfully licensed patent rights for his innovations to several of America’s largest contact lens manufacturers and has served as a research and development consultant for leading contact lens makers. He has also been recognized for his pioneer work in Corneal Refractive Therapy, a non-surgical vision correction procedure.
Dr. Bauman has lectured throughout the United States on topics of interest in Optometry and Ophthalmology and has written numerous articles on many aspects of professional practice. He currently resides in Stowe, Vermont with his wife Barbara and their two children.
